About Me

Hi there, nice to meet you! I'm Aaron, also known as "Mootabisque." I've been creating pixel art illustrations and animations since 2018.

Before pixel art, I studied graphic design and motion graphics for three years. Near the end of my studies, I was flown to Beijing to present my award-winning isometric design on international Chinese television based on the Chinese character 宴 (yàn), meaning "banquet."

My first job out of school was in action sports apparel design, where I worked with brands like Red Bull, Monster, and the USA Olympic BMX Team, designing and prepping jackets, jerseys, and uniforms for in-house printing.

When COVID-19 hit, live events in action sports slowed way down, but content creation took off. I pivoted to making pixel art assets, overlays, stingers, banners, and more for streamers.

Around the same time, I blended my motion graphics and pixel art backgrounds to create waiting-room animations for the LA Promise Fund and the National Geographic Society at the GirlsBuild'21 Virtual Summit.

These days, I'm building my own project: Battlecasters, a TTRPG fishing one-shot featuring pixel art battle maps and creature tokens for tabletop and virtual play, launching in 2026 Q3 as a printable PDF.
